The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Türkiye participated in a Trade and Investment Promotion Visit in Türkiye held in Konya and Istanbul from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The event was coordinated by Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEİK) and Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA). The delegation was led by Dr. Fred Msemwa, Permanent Secretary, President’s Office – Investment, and focused on promoting trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. The visit formed an important component of the implementation of Economic Diplomacy and Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 which envisages the private sector contributing 70 percent of the national GDP by 2050.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase Tanzania’s diverse trade and investment opportunities while highlighting the country’s strategic geographical position and access to the Indian Ocean. Tanzania occupies a strategically important position as a gateway to several countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, particularly within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), whose member states utilise Tanzania’s ports to facilitate various economic and trade activities.

Beyond promoting Tanzania’s investment and trade potential, the visit also served as an important platform for further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Tanzania and Türkiye, particularly in the economic sphere. The engagements contributed to advancing mutually beneficial economic cooperation and creating opportunities for increased trade, investment, business partnerships and private-sector collaboration between the two countries.
